Calendar-year reference
MG TC 1949: EXU Export Features and Identification
1949 is a useful separate TC reference because the New England MG T Register identifies the North American EXU version with that year. It also dates the end of TC production to December 1949.

The EXU was equipped for North America
The New England MG T Register describes the TC EXU as a special North American export model produced in 1949. Its listed differences include additional lighting, turn signals, bumpers, safety glass, concealed horns, a rear-view mirror and a rearranged instrument panel. These are the club guide's EXU features, not a specification asserted for every 1949 TC.
Export did not make the EXU left-hand drive
The same guide explicitly says that the EXU remained right-hand drive. North American equipment and steering position are separate questions. An EXU description should be checked against the car's factory record, rather than inferred from its present country or a single added accessory.

Final-year identity and the factory record
The club guide gives December 1949 as the end of TC production. The MG Car Club T Register says the chassis stamping should match the identification plate and makes the factory-recorded production date and engine number searchable. Published model-run TC endpoints differ between these two club guides, so no 1949 chassis band or annual production count is derived from them here.

Production figures and dating limits
No annual production total or annual chassis range has been confirmed from the cited sources, so neither is given here. A running-change milestone is not an annual chassis range. The factory-record search reproduces the original paper records, including any inconsistencies. Confirm the record for the individual car.
Questions about this year
- Was the 1949 MG TC EXU left-hand drive?
- No. The New England MG T Register describes the North American EXU as remaining right-hand drive despite its market-specific equipment. Export specification does not imply a change of steering side.New England MG T Register: Car Spotter Guide

The year headings organise the evidence by calendar year, not by an asserted US model-year specification. Secondary timeline dates are attributed and qualified rather than treated as universal factory cut-offs.
